We're not able to provide vet care outside our core hours yet. Here's who we'd call.
Wolfe Vets, Fulham — 24-hour emergency care
We recommend Wolfe Vets for urgent care outside our hours. They run an excellent 24-hour facility in Fulham and are used to handling everything from after-hours accidents to critical care.
When do you need a vet?
Mobile is usually the calmest option for your pet — but not every situation is right for a home visit. Here's how to tell the difference.
We try to book visits as quickly as we can, but even on our best days it can take a couple of hours for a vet to reach your home. For situations where every minute matters, an emergency clinic is the right call — not us.
Go to an emergency clinic immediately
If any of the following are happening, don't wait for us — go straight to your nearest emergency clinic.
- Severe trauma, open fracture, or heavy bleeding(e.g. animal attack, car strike, fall from height)
- Burns
- Eye injuries
- Can’t breathe, or choking on something stuck
- A seizure that lasts longer than 3 minutes, or back-to-back seizures
- Severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis(e.g. sudden swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, or collapse after a sting, bite, or new medication)
Call us as soon as possible
If your pet is showing any of the following and we are open, call us straight away. If we have a vet in your area, we'll get them to you as fast as we can. If not, we'll help you find a clinic that can.
- Can’t urinate
- Vomiting or diarrhoea with severe weakness
- Collapse, or a larger pet who is down and can’t be moved safely
- Bloated or distended abdomen
- Heatstroke or hypothermia
- Difficulty giving birth
- Sudden loss of use of one or more limbs
- Suspected poisoning or toxin ingestion (e.g. chocolate, grapes, raisins, lilies, antifreeze, human medication)
- Mild allergic reaction without breathing difficulty (e.g. hives or a mildly swollen face after a sting or new food)
If your pet has collapsed, please don't try to move them — especially large or senior dogs. Call us first and we'll help you triage over the phone. In many of these situations coming to your pet at home is the calmest and safest option.
Allergic reactions can get worse fast.If your pet starts struggling to breathe, their face or throat swells rapidly, or they collapse, don't wait — go straight to the nearest emergency clinic.
What we can (and can't) do at home
Mobile vets handle most day-to-day care beautifully. For a few things, a clinic is the better option — and when that's the case, we'll help you get there.
What we can do at home
- Routine & preventative care
Wellness check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control (flea/tick/worming treatments), nail clipping, beak trimming, microchipping.
- Consultations & diagnoses
Physical exams for routine illnesses, skin conditions, and ongoing management of chronic issues like heart or lung conditions.
- Diagnostics
Blood sampling, blood-pressure checks, urine analysis.
- Treatments
Administering medication, fluid therapy (including IVs), prescriptions, sedation, sutures, changing bandages, post-surgery monitoring.
- Travel documentation
Health certificates and fit-to-fly checks for international travel.
- Hospice & senior care
Specialist monitoring and comfort care for elderly pets.
- End-of-life care & euthanasia
Peaceful, dignified passing at home, surrounded by the people and places your pet loves.
What we don't do at home
- Surgical procedures like spaying or neutering
- 24-hour hospitalisation and monitoring
- Complex imaging (x-rays, ultrasounds)
If a clinic is the right call, we refer you to one of our trusted partners, brief them on your pet’s situation, and stay alongside you through the procedure and recovery.
