The pet at home isn't the pet in a clinic.

A clinic health check is, through no one's fault, always a little bit inaccurate. The pet on the exam table has their heart rate up and their muscles tense — that's not their baseline, that's their stress response. At home, we see them as they really are: walking their normal walk, sitting in their favourite spot, quietly stepping around the stairs they've stopped using.

That's the version of your pet a proper check needs. And you get sixty minutes, in the room you already share with them, to actually talk about what you've noticed.

Why check every year?

An annual check is how we catch small things before they become big ones, and how we build a baseline for what “normal” looks like for your pet, so we can spot when something isn't. This becomes even more important as your pet ages: we want to give them the longest, happiest, healthy life possible.

Nose to tail, quite literally.

Eight things every annual check covers.

Weight & body condition

Not just the number on the scale — how they carry the weight, where they hold it, and whether it's changed since last year.

Small weight creeps are one of the most common early signs of something worth watching.

Teeth & gums

Dental disease is one of the most common — and most preventable — health issues in dogs and cats.

Major dental work often requires general anaesthetic at a clinic; we can often avoid this by catching and treating small things early.

Eyes & ears

Clouding, discharge, scratching, head-tilting. We check both structures and function, and ask about anything you've noticed changing.

Most eye and ear problems are easy to fix early and much harder to fix late.

Heart & lungs

A proper listen to heart rate, rhythm and lung sounds — ideally when your pet isn't panting from a car journey.

Early murmurs and subtle changes are much easier to catch when your pet is relaxed.

Coat & skin

Lumps, bumps, hot spots, dry patches. We'll ask about scratching, shedding changes, and anything the coat is telling us about what's happening underneath.

The coat is often the first place a systemic issue shows up.

Joints & mobility

Watching how they actually move — on their own stairs, on their own floor — is the test. We check range of motion, pain response, and any asymmetry between legs.

You can't do this in a consulting room; the space is small, the pet is tense, and you don't get a clear picture.

Abdomen & lumps

A hands-on palpation of the abdomen, plus a full body check for new lumps. Many are benign, some aren't.

We'd rather find and document a lump early than miss one.

Behaviour & lifestyle

Hardest to do at a clinic, easiest to do at home. We'll ask about appetite, water intake, toileting, sleep, energy, and anything else you've been meaning to mention.

A lot of the most useful diagnostic information lives in the things you notice but haven't reported to a vet yet.

On what you can only spot at home.

You learn more about a dog in thirty seconds watching them come down their own stairs than you do in ten minutes on an exam table. At home, they're not performing — they're just being themselves. The cat who avoids one specific windowsill because their hip hurts. The dog who hesitates at the top step before committing. Those are the things I'd rather catch now than next year.

Dr Tony

Before, during, after.

Sixty minutes, split roughly 25/35.

1

Before

Book online or by phone. Tell us your pet's age, any existing conditions, and anything you've noticed — no detail is too small. If you have records from a previous vet, bring them out for the visit so we can build on them rather than start over.

2

During

The vet arrives with everything they need and starts where your pet is most relaxed — usually their bed, sofa, or favourite spot. The full nose-to-tail check takes about 25 minutes. The other 35 go to conversation: what you've noticed, what we've found, what it might mean, and what — if anything — to do about it.

3

After

You get a written summary the same day: every finding, every recommendation, every "worth watching." We keep it all on your pet's record, so next year's check picks up exactly where this one left off. If we found something that needs following up, we'll tell you whether it's ours to fix or someone else's — and help you get there.

Budgeted per year, not per visit.

An annual health check is one of the three home consultations included in Pack Membership at £39/month. You also get your annual booster, unlimited advice calls, written records kept up to date, and 15% off everything else your pet needs.

If you'd rather pay as you go, a first-visit health check is £99 for new households. Full price list on our pricing page.

Pack Membership is a 12-month rolling contract, billed monthly at £39. You can cancel during the 14-day cooling-off period for a full refund, or at any point after the 12-month term. Full Pack terms.

The £99 first visit covers the call-out and 60-minute nose-to-tail health check for new households, one per pet. Vaccinations, medication, sedation and euthanasia are charged separately. Full list on our pricing page.

FAQ

The questions we hear most.

Reviews

What households actually tell us.

Buster didn't even realise he was at the vet. He just thought someone nice came to visit.

Sarah, Clapham

The vet arrived knowing Basil's history. She didn't ask me to explain the kidney results.

David, Richmond

One visit, both cats done. No carriers. No day off work. Why doesn't everyone do this?

Amir, Hackney

Book their yearly check in under a minute.

Tell us about your pet and we'll bring the check-up to them. No carrier. No clinic. Just the room they already trust.
